Hotel Editorial Review

By the Hotel

About Homestay:- Pottikere in the local language means a tank shaped like a box. The presence of such a tank gave the estate its name. When you trek down from the house you will see this lovely tank surrounded by banana trees. There is a stream gurgling by the tank and this easily is the spot where you want to spend a few moments by yourself more...

The Place :- Approach The part of the estate you will stay in has the house at the top, on a flat piece of land. The estate then slopes down to a tank ( kere in Coorg ). This is a beautiful place to sit and read a book or relax or even have a snooze. There is a stream by the tank and this has water 8 months of the year. The gentle flowing sound of the stream can easily lull you into a slumber. To keep the place rustic, we have kept the paths unpaved and it is great fun to walk around. Take the usual precaution during monsoon.

The estate grows coffee, pepper, cardamom, avocado, banana and jackfruit.

The Times:- Summer is hot and not very much fun outdoors. You will feel better chilling out inside the house under a fan. Between February and April, the coffee is being harvested and you can watch the entire action take place.

According to me monsoon is the best time to come to Coorg. I come here to do nothing - something you cannot achieve in Bangalore or Chennai or Bombay. The days are wet and you can sit in the verandah and watch the mist come to be replaced by heavy rain which will then give way to bright sunshine and then get misty again. The nights are cold and you will be comfortable under your quilt.

Winters are cold and mostly dry and very enjoyable. You can take long walks on the Siddapur road, where the traffic is very light.
